Meet Judicial Candidate

Christophere E. “Chris” Crawford

Justice Of The Peace Laughlin Township

Chris was born on Long Island, NY. The son of a hardworking southern reared mother and Jamaican Immigrant stepfather, both of which worked tirelessly to provide for their family. Chris understands the value of honest hard work. As a child, he learned the value of being of service to others (he was also told to be seen helping elder neighbors as early as elementary school.

His core values of courage, commitment, compassion, and community are not just words to him. They are the guiding principles of his life. He believes that without courage, the other values are not possible. The ability to make the right or best decision, despite possible public scorn, is a characteristic of a good judge, and Chris embodies this.

Chris believes judges should have empathy, understanding that it is a crucial quality for the role. He understands that judges must empathize justly and equally with both sides and rely on far more processes than empathy to make good decisions. Chris has had several conversations with rural justice of the peace in Clark and Nye Counties, who feel the same, further reinforcing his understanding of the role and its responsibilities.
